We drove up a hill. No really when we got to the top, we were over 242 above sea level. Tonight, they have a band and food truck at the winery. Band was great and the food was too.

This trail takes us through the more remote portions of the park. We are hoping for wildlife pictures.
On the other hand, an owl stayed still for quite a while as we watched.
After a couple of overnight stops, we stayed at Hart Springs for a couple of days.
The campground was nice. It has connected trails to Hart Springs. Some of which were on board walks.
The springs are similar to many others found in Florida. We had several cool days so decided not to swim.
I was able to put the GoPro under to see one of the springs.
The spring flows out to the Suwannee River. There were lots of fish to see but the Manatees were not here. Better luck next time.
We did see some interesting animals and birds along the trail.
Pictures were difficult because the deer startled and ran off. The woodpecker was a bit shy.
The main trail from the campground to the springs is paved. Our bike ride was nice.
There are several trails, and one makes a long loop almost around the entire park. It was a nice hike. It began as a nice walk along a river then inland through a pine forest. Well, someone has quirky since of humor or is just really reluctant to throw things out. At one point, we saw a few deer and then one of the "famous" white deer of which there are several in the park. Our pictures did not come out that well so I will include one taken at the campground by another camper. There are also a few white squirrels. I guess being white is not as dangerous here as it would be other places. There is almost no way for a white squirrel to hide from predators. This is a nice park other than a few tight turns with limbs in the campground. We got all setup and took off to get some food and fuel. The restaurant, Tropical Trader Shrimp Co, was great! Perfectly cooked shrimp. The appetizer was fantastic. The view from our front door is pretty.
We will have to keep this campground on our list. Just not for the weekends. The park is Pat Thomas Park just south of Quincy, FL. It is right on a big lake and we were warned that it could get very busy on weekends. Lucky for us, we were there in the off season. This park is a few miles off Hwy 20 and while we were there, it was very quiet.
Our next stop was a Lavender Farm. The owner gave us information on the farm, and we stopped in their store to purchase a couple of things. Wow! The store had a strong smell of Lavender.
It was the wrong time of the year to see the plants in bloom. Maybe next time. Our first stop on the trip to Key West is Topsail. We have been to this park once before traveling with Mom and Dad in 2012. It is a beautiful park. Sadly, the weather was not the best. We had some rain and clouds. We started planning this trip over a year ago. It is impossible to camp in the Florida Keys or many other places in Florida without a reservation a year in advance. To get into a state park, we started trying a year out and each day's reservations are gone in the first seconds or less! We took the bikes out for a ride. The weather is not the best, but it is winter.
