Almost to Texas. We will be in Mansfield LA overnight and move on into Texas tomorrow.
HWY 84 is not all that great through Louisiana. Several areas need work. Some parts are being repaved. We will be using a different route than 84 through the state.

Heading back across the Mississippi after picking up some muscadine wine at Old South Winery. They have been painting one of the two bridges for the last 6 months so 4 lanes is reduced to 2.
I love the dashcam but I still need more work with the video editing package to improve the playback. It seems after editing the video has a stutter.
Gigantic set of barges being pushed by a pair of tugs working together.
We love this Army Corp campground. Very quiet at night. Even the tugs make very little noise moving barges up and down the river. Each time we have camped here we have had sites that directly overlook the river.
Today we say goodbye to Mom and Dad. We have had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends.
Over the next few days we will travel over 1200 miles but only through 4 States. One of those states is Texas and anyone who has drove through that state knows how long it takes to get across Texas. I could say 6 states but we are already in Florida and only travel into New Mexico not across the state. Still a lot of driving. We will spread it over enough time to avoid long days. We will stay on US Highways instead of Interstates as much as possible. It has been a busy last few months. We have been helping with projects for Mom and Dad along with other family. There was a lot of playing with grandchildren. We also traveled to South Florida to visit the WDW and finding our new RV. The Sunnybrook was sold and the new Durango was purchased which involved empting the old and reloading the new. Whew! That was exhausting. |
