We have been enjoying a few days of quiet here at the Emerald Coast RV Resort on the Colorado river. Sunrise was very nice this morning. We do not expect the quiet to last. This is a holiday weekend and with that usually means lots of people. We will enjoy the quiet while we can and play cards with Bill and Kelly.

We visited downtown Vegas. WOW! Gaudy does not even come close. The water show at the Bellagio was great. They started every 15 minutes so we were able to watch 3 shows. What surprised us? The game area of the Casinos are boring. No, I am not kidding. We walked through a couple and it was just a bunch of screens mounted in fancy boxes with lots of lights and tables with people playing cards. We did find some interesting sculptures. We did pass some very VERY expensive restaurants. The Ribeye steak was only $85. Most of the people were just tourists. There were a few homeless but nowhere near as many as in San Francisco. Some people in costumes like a Batman, Transformer, "fat" Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, and a few "Showgirls". All were asking for money to have pictures taken with them. We have seen people doing this before several times in different locations. We also saw the classic Vegas gambler. A man in a leisure suit and a shirt unbuttoned half way down. Weird!
Tonight we had a really fantastic sunset. Here are a few pictures. Amazing! One of the channels we follow on Youtube is "The Motorhome Experiment" and they announce a "Meetup" here in Las Vegas. A meetup is just an opportunity for everyone that follows the channel to visit together. They expected maybe a 1/2 dozen people but there were 30 that participated. Paul and Lorena were great and just as personable as they are in their videos. They have over 20,000 subscribers and over 3 million views of their videos. We have been following them from near the beginning of their adventure.
We purchased a water softener. Several locations the water has been very hard. It has been bad enough to cause several problems for us and the RV equipment. I decided it would be best to mount the softener where it can be locked up. Project Time! As part of the project, why not mount the water filters too?! This is the result before connecting hoses between the filters, softener, and RV. I had to cut the plywood board and mount the white cover which is somewhat waterproof.. If we have a leak the water will drain down into the bottom of the bin and out by the water supply hose. This project should cut several minutes off the setup time.
We are still near Las Vegas but have yet to go downtown to see the lights. Maybe Monday. |
