We have come back to the Pensacola area to visit family, friends, and relax.
It was a little bit exhausting being at WDW.

We decided to visit Animal Kingdom one last time this trip.
We spent the afternoon at Animal Kingdom on our last day at Disney World this trip. It is the park that Shawna/Mom likes most. I like it too. We took the Safari again and watched the animals and birds. It was a day of just relaxing and observing. We stayed to see the Tree of Life projection show. It was a little different from the first time we saw it and we enjoyed the show. We have seen every show and rode every ride, most several times, excluding the ones that were being renovated and Tower of Terror which I will not ride again. On our way to the north tomorrow. Back in NWF by Sunday. 6,898 steps
We spent the afternoon at Hollywood Studios. Going back to ride our LAST ride we had not yet ridden at WDW. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster! Yes, other than the one that is closed Kali River Rapids Animal Kingdom and Tower of Terror which I just won’t ever ride again after the effect it had on me last time. We have watched every show and ridden every ride.
We started by re-watching the Beauty and the Beast stage show. Then off to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. It was a surprise to Shawna/Mom that the ride corkscrews and loops. Ooops! I guess I should have let her know beforehand. After that we crossed the park to Star Tours. We enjoyed it so much and the lines were so short that we re-rode 3 times. Every time it was different. I think now we have seen every planet but not everything else. It was fun. After that we returned to Muppet Vision 3D.
The last thing we did was to go to the Frozen sing along which is always fun. The actors improvise jokes and interact with the audience and who doesn’t like to sing a song you have stuck in your head anyway.
Today was 6,749 steps We returned to the Magic Kingdom to see the new welcome/opening ceremonies. It is very different from standing outside the main entrance but still nice. Today we completed riding or watching everything at the Magic Kingdom. The last two were Astro Orbiter and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We re-rode the Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, Tomorrowland People Mover, Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid and watched the Muppets history.
It was a fun day and most rides had very short wait times. We decided after getting started at 7am that we would head home at 3pm. 8,466 steps today. Change of plans. We had some storms and heavy rain over the weekend. It was supposed to end by midnight but at 6am I woke to a downpour. My thought maybe tomorrow. We had planned to go to see the new opening ceremonies at Magic kingdom instead we made an afternoon trip to Epcot to ride the only one we had not ridden.
We started with a trip back to Seas. The Manatees were out and that was great. On from there to Test Track was a little different than I remembered. We had fun. We finished the day with a return to Innovation and the Spaceship Earth. Today we walked 9,568 steps. Off to Animal Kingdom one more time on this trip. We decided to finish riding all the remaining rides at the park Expedition Everest and Flights of wonder. Yes, we rode Everest a roller coaster that goes 55 mph and both forward and backward in the dark. Wow! Ok we have done it. I am not sure we will repeat it though. Flights of wonder was great. The show is a group of birds that fly directly over the crowd. Within inches of our heads. It was a great show with many different types of birds. The lines were very short today so we also re-watched Finding Nemo the musical and re-rode Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Wildlife Express train, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, and Triceratops Spin. We spent a while looking at the animals. If it were a zoo it would be one of the best in the world. During the Safari ride we were blocked by 3 White Rhinos running across our path. It was very impressive. Every time we have ridden it has been different because the animals are roaming free in much of the ride. We have watched and ridden every ride at Animal Kingdom except Kali River Rapids that was closed for renovations. Yes, we are trying to ride and see every show at WDW. Ok maybe not Tower of Terror. It was just too much on my insides last time I rode it and I just don’t like the feeling of stuff moving around like that. We have been having fun... Today was 10,568 steps. I was feeling better this morning. Hope that this was it for being sick this trip. Praying that Shawna/Mom does not show any signs of getting it. We decided to see the Beauty and the Beast stage show but we got to the park 2 hours before the Fastpass so we rode a few rides over again. First, we watched “Star Wars Trials of the Temple” it is a training session for young Jedi. They must deal with Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. It was fun to watch. Then we rode Star Tours and walked right back and rode it again. Almost no line at all even though the sign showed Standby wait time of 30 minutes. This is the best time to go to WDW. After that we still had time so we walked over to Toy Story Mania. The Standby showed 50 minutes but it was less than 15. We had a lot of fun. The Beauty and the Beast stage show was great. After the stage show we came home but before we did set our Fastpasses for Animal Kingdom tomorrow.
Today was a short day of 4 hours at the park and our steps were 4,641. Today we started with the Festival of the Lion King. It is a live and costumed stage show. It is very good but loud. Once again, we had to put in our ear plugs to bring the volume down to tolerable levels. I am convinced the general population has hearing damage.
We spent most of the day walking on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and Maharaja Jungle Trek. They are walks through the animal exhibits. Disney has done a great job at presenting the animals in as natural a setting as possible and has several species in breeding programs that are no longer found in the wild. They have several babies at Animal Kingdom. On the safari, we saw a lot of animals but there was also a baby Giraffe and African elephant (Stella). This is her mother (Donna) 3rd birth at Animal Kingdom. This brings the herd to 3 males and 7 females. On one of the trails there were two baby Silver back gorillas wrestling and rough playing together with both mom and dad napping. Dad was not amused when one woke him during their play time. Later we came upon Gibbon monkeys and there was a baby swinging all over showing off until mom called him back to feed. Maybe I can post a video soon. Steps for today were 7,222. We spent the afternoon riding and walking around the Magic Kingdom but the monorail was working so we took it into the park. Yea! I was not sure we would be able to on this trip. It has not been running most of the trip. Our first Fastpass was for Magic Carpets of Aladdin. It is basically Dumbo with carpets instead of elephants. It was still fun. We were also able to ride Tomorrowland Speedway (turns out even on “car” ride she was not amused when I pulled out my phone to text – I thought it would be funny. I took a selfie before I put it up.), Liberty Square Riverboat, Space Mountain. We also walked around Tom Sawyer Island and watched Country Bear Jamboree. On the way, out of the park we stopped off to see the Muppets give another lesson in American History. Of course, it was funny.
Today our total steps was 8,739. |
