Well we have a new high temp since we got here.

Today, so far, it has gotten to 107 degrees.

I checked some metal surfaces that have been exposed to the sun almost all day and they were 146 degrees.  Whatever you do here you don't want to touch any metal that is for sure. OUCH!!!

Lets just say you don't want to set metal tool down and come back after an hour in the sun and pick it .. Ow ow ow ... clang...  Now where are those bandaids?

I am hoping for something less than triple digit highs for tomorrow.

We took a short hike this afternoon at the state park.

Near sunset we took a walk on the trail at the Ute Lake state park.  Some of the plants really don't want to be touched but the flowers were pretty.

Then we walked through the canyon.
There was a rain cloud in the distance but it did not look like the rain was making it to the ground.  That is common in this area because the air is frequently so dry it evaporates first.

We sat on a bench on one of the points over the lake
and watched the sun as it filtered through the clouds.

Very rarely we have had rainbows...  It seems the pot of gold is in the Sunnybrook.

We were looking at RV's in Amarillo and found that they had a free museum.  It was pretty neat.  Lots of old RV's and Harley's.
This is a small sample of what we were able to see.

Fishing on Ute Lake

Ute lake is a very large lake. At an altitude of 3,900 ft and a length of over 13 miles from the dam to the farthest point there is plenty of room for fishing and other fun. The lake has many coves and extensions off from the main lake. It is a series of canyons that were filled after the dam was completed. Much of the lake is over 40 feet in depth even up to 10 feet from shore in many areas. The deepest point is over 70 feet.  On most weekdays we almost have the lake to ourselves. Weekends and holidays are a very different story.

The lake has white, small, and large mouth bass, Crappie, Walleye, Bluegill, and Catfish.

Logan village is on the lake. They have a cute saying...

A little run along the shore of the lake.

After 4 hours it was time to get back to the dock.

We had a great time with Jonathan, Michael, Anthony, and their families. They came in for time with us at the lake.  It has been great. Visiting. Fishing. Swimming. Watching fireworks.  Hiking at the state park. Playing card games.  It has been fantastic!  We had time to visit with everyone.  Lots of time to talk with everyone.  We loved the time with the grandchildren.

Fishing...  The largest bass caught so far was by Anthony and was 4 lbs Large mouth.
The lake is pretty deep and drops off quickly from most of the banks or cliffs along the water's edge.

On one of our trips on the lake we found a mom and her two baby foxes playing on the rocks. As long as we were 40 feet or more from shore she did not seem to worried.

On the Sunday before the 4th the village had great fireworks.

As we have almost every night here the sunsets are spectacular.
