I had a retinal detachment in my left eye. The doctor was surprised that nothing was noticed before the seperation started. If you see flashing in your vision, have it checked. It could be a tear which can be fixed quickly with a laser in the office. Seems like science fiction but they do this all the time now. I missed the significance and the result was surgery on my left eye. By the time I was aware of the problem, 1/4 of my vision in the left eye was black.
The recovery is long and difficult. Basically I have to keep my head down for AT LEAST a week. The rule is nose pointed to the ground ALL THE TIME. This is while awake or sleeping. Boredom will be my biggest frustration in the near future. If all goes well, I will have my eyesight restored. A lot of our plans are changed because of the recovery time.

WOW, the last few weeks have been busy. We had a great Christmas and time with family and lots of wonderful visits with the grandchildren (and their parents).
Some plans to visit family were changed due to the current "sickness bug" that has been going around but we will have more time to visit this spring.. We have a new grandchild on the way! So we will be staying in Florida longer than expected. We are excited and looking forward to the littleone that will be born this year. The temperatures here have been high enough to have the AC running. We are glad that some of the last few weeks it has been cooler. In the next few days we may need to heater on some of the time. |
