Tonights view to the west. The sunset. It was really getting chilly so we did not stay to see if we could catch the Milky Way. Yes it is usually easy to see on a clear night if you get away from the street lights. Basicly drive away from houses and its so dark you can't see your feet unless the moon is out.
We have been working hard to get as much done as possible. The Lakehouse is looking pretty good. There is quite a bit on the "to do" list. We hope to be headed for Florida in about 2 weeks and in Pensacola by the 13th. We will see what finally happens as plans may change. Today the three of us had Thanksgiving dinner. It was sad too. We are all missing Kevin even more today. Each holiday will be difficult for Shawna's Mom for a while.

Today was our 38th anniversary. No big fanfare as we usually think of our anniversary as Thanksgiving day. I am a blessed guy.
We are working on the list of things that need to be done in the park. Busy everyday with something. Today I made two trips to the dump with limbs I cut down. The trailer I used is 20 ft long and full. Exhausted.... Yesterday this guy was running through the park. And just to prove what he was.... Beep Beep ...... Here is what the scenery looks like around the area and the State Park directly across the road from the RV Park.
Over the last few days we have been working around the park.
Last night's 'super moon' was pretty super.
Tonight's sunset was nice. Sunsets are usually spectacular. We will need some clouds to be one of those.
Until Thursday I will be solo at the park. Shawna and her Mom are in Albuquerque till Thursday. Plenty on my "Honey do list" to keep me busy.
Shawna's brother was cremated so his ashes will be spread in several locations that were special to him. His shipmates in Alaska will spread some there. Some were put at his first son grave with a marker. Some will be spread at the lake here. One set will be spread at Pensacola beach. He loved the beach in Pensacola almost as much as he did Alaska. He lived in Pensacola twice. When he was a young boy and later when he was in high school so he has spent a lot of time at the beach.
Everyone was better after the memorial on Monday. We made it to the Lake. We think of it that way because this is where Shawna's Grandparents and Father lived and her mother lives. Near by is the village of Logan NM.
Logan is a very small community. No traffic lights. One restaurant and a subway. Two gas stations. One grocery store and a Family dollar Store. The resident population is just under 1000 but the lake is big and attracts visitors for fishing and most other water sports. The lake is over 12 miles long and branches off several times from the main lake. At its widest it is just under a mile wide. Right now the lake is full so it is filling the canyon. The normal weather is usually dry and clear skies. We arrived at the lake in a rain storm. Very wet and cloudy. As we passed through Texas we had a flat. Yes another one. The tires first tire that blew was part of a set we had planned to replace while near WDW. If we had continued the trip as planned it is likely we would have made it before that one failed. The second was the older spare. Both the tires that failed were under 3 years old. Lots of family. Lots of crying and reminiscing. The next few days will be very hard. We got just west of Oklahoma City and stopped for the night. On to Texas and then New Mexico by late afternoon.
We were making really good time and then just before Memphis we had a tire on the 5th wheel blowout. It was a bit hectic changing the tire on the highway.
We stopped just outside Memphis to get the tire replaced. Being tired and a bit frazzled we stopped just over the Mississippi river at an RV park. This means we will not reach Shawna's Mom's house till Saturday. We have had a death in the family and all our plans have changed.
The rest of our trip has been canceled. We are now moving west to NM as fast as we can. Driving more miles per day than, during this trip, we would travel in a couple of weeks or longer. We drove from the Atlantic coast of SC yesterday and now are in Alabama. By the end of the day we should be in Arkansas. |
