Getting ready to pull away from San Diego, California. Honesty is sometimes a bit complicating.
I had a sore throat on December 23rd so when the Health Questionnaire asked if in the last 2 weeks, I had that symptom, I answered ‘Yes’. Though currently I have been completely healthy and had a negative Covid test just 2 days ago. Well, my answer made things slow on embarking. We had to wait in line for 2 hours longer so that I could be "assessed" by the medical staff from the cruise line. When I was finally seen, it took about 2 minutes of questions then I was approved to go. As it was, we were in the last group to get on board. FYI: 9pm is the new Midnight on these ships unless you get an afternoon nap. Sometimes getting older makes me feel like a toddler. Sunset leaving San Diego and time for an adult cocktail.

After an exhausting group of flights, we arrived in San Diego for a couple of days before the cruise. The boardwalk is right across the street from the hotel. The tuna fleet was in port. It was right next to the Midway. The deck is covered in planes and other displays. And this huge sculpture. A Bob Hope tribute where audio was continuously playing from one of his troop shows. Just down the boardwalk is the cruise port. Today, two ships were docked. The Seven Seas Mariner known for long, world cruises and The World which is a residence ship where people actually live on board traveling the world. They are both very expensive but as an example the least expensive cabin on The World is about $70,000 per year. Across the bay is the Navy base. The carrier in port is the Abraham Lincoln. There were sail boats all over the bay. Just a bit further down the boardwalk is the Maritime Museum where several sailing ships on display. The ships were used in several movies but the most notable was Master and Commander. Time to head back toward the hotel for lunch. Lunch was at Cheesecake Factory. My first time. Yea, I know but it just never came up before today. They have very good sandwiches, and the desert was amazing.
