It was a first for me to visit Albuquerque. My impression was that it was a large but spread out city. I wish we had time to visit the mountains.
We did some shopping. Stayed overnight in a hotel. In the morning, we took Mom to the airport for her flight to England.
On the return trip we stopped off at the town of Santa Rosa to see Blue Hole. Something else I have not seen. At 60 feet in diameter and 81 feet deep the water is a stunning blue and very clear. The source hole was explored to 200 feet. It was amazing to think that this was an open passage to the aquifer below this part of New Mexico. A huge amount of water is continuously flowing from the hole. It is estimated at 3000 gallons per minute.
One more thing to think about is that the surface is at an elevation of 4,616 ft.
We are a couple who have started on a new adventure...
