We are at Lake Village, AR. First we stopped at a small commercial RV park just outside of town but the traffic noise from the highway was annoying. We will be moving to the state park on the other end of Lake Chicot for the rest of the week. The lake was formed from a horseshoe bend of the Mississippi that was blocked off when the river changed course. The lake is almost 1/2 mile across and over 16 miles from one end to the other. The people here have a sense of humor. They built their welcome center that looks like a river boat and then surround it by water. We drove over to a county park on the Mississippi. Pretty views of the river. On a drive around the area we came upon this historical marker. Neat! I never heard this before. Guess this is the claim to fame for the area.
