We visited the the National Zoo in DC. Very nice and like most of the museums in DC. Free! We were able to see a lot of animals including Pandas and all the normal zoo animals. The Pandas were great! The Gorilla house was really fun. There was a baby Orangutan that was only 4 weeks old with momma and dad. Dad was huge! That was not the only baby ape. There was also a smaller monkey running around in their habitat.
In the evening we took a night tour of DC. All the buildings were lit. We were able to walk up to the fence on the North side of the White house. There was a large group protesting. A group is always protesting at the White House. They were waving the Pan-African flag but it was difficult to tell what they were really upset about. A lot of “No more something something” Very hard to tell with the bullhorn they were using. My guess is there were a couple of hundred people in the group.
We also stopped at several memorials the Lincoln, Korean War, Roosevelt, MLK, Jefferson, and the Iwo Jima. Along the tour we also saw the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, and the Pentagon building.
The tour left from the RV park at 6 PM and returned just at 11 PM. It was a really great bus. Very comfortable. We decided that tomorrow we would be relaxing and not go into the city. So clean up in the RV, wash laundry, and maybe a stop off at the parks hot tub. Yes this is a very nice RV park.
