Bardstown has many Bourbon distilleries and they have an interesting statement on the visitors guide. "There’s no law that says bourbon has to be made in Bardstown." They do have a lot of Bourbon made here. Nearby is the Jim Beam, Barton 1792, Makers Mark, Lux Row, Heaven Hill, Four Roses, Preservation, Old Samuels, Willett, Log Still, and Bardstown Bourbon distilleries. We will do our best to visit as many as possible. First on our list here is the Barton 1792 distillery. They make Early Times Whiskey, Barton Bourbon, 1792 Bourbon, and Chocolate Bourton Ball Cream Liqueur. The liqueur is like a better version of Baileys Irish Cream in our opinion. The problem is that the Liqueur is made in very small batches and only sold at the distillery. The company also take their bourbon barrels after aging bourbon to age sherry for Paul Masson Brandy among other companies. They have been distilling bourbon since 1879. They are not the oldest but still very old. They make several versions of 1792. At the World Spirits Competition, the Bottle and Bond was voted the worlds best Bourbon this year. We have a bottle of that and it is very good. I don't know about being the Worlds Best. They named the Bourbon for the year that Kentucky became a State, 1792. Time to try some straight alcohol, aka white lightning. WOW! It is very strong at about 140 proof. Time for our tastings. We had a whiskey, two bourbons, and a Chocolate Bourbon Ball Cream Liqueur. Of course, they end the tour with an opportunity to buy some of their products.
