Today we visited Colonial Williamsburg. For those who are not familiar with it the area that was the original location of Williamsburg which was the capital of Virginia from 1699 to 1780. This was a common location for several of our founding fathers to visit including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison.
They have literally rebuilt on the same location the roads and building that existed on that land. Several of the buildings are original from that time. We were able to tour the Palace and a lot of shops. They have reenactors that walk the streets and operate the shops. There were several events we were able witness including a speech and Q&A session with James Madison, a vote and political speeches at the courthouse, see and speak to the basket weavers, the wig maker (she was great and stayed in character all the time) and on and on.
We will be going back again tomorrow because the current special offer they have is that those over 50 can buy a single day ticket and get to come back for the rest of the year on that same pass.
