This afternoon we visited the oldest state park in Georgia. The hike around the lake was 1 mile and the falls were very nice. After lunch we started on the longer hike the Bear Hair Gap Trail which climbs Blood Mountain. It is 4.1 miles and climbs from 2400 feet to 3100 feet at the top. We made it up to the top but were forced back by a down pour. We heard the rain coming so had time to put everything we did not want to get wet in the backpack and get the emergency poncho’s on. Just in time. The trail back became a little creek of its own. By the time we got back to the parking lot the rain had stopped and our shoes and socks were soaked. Next shopping trip will be for waterproof hiking boots. Of course we had a full set of clothes including shoes in the truck. We always have that emergency plan ready. It felt like we were teenagers in scouts.
